These furnaces are built by NORDYNE which is a part of NORTEK GLOBAL HVAC and are basic units with efficiencies of either 92% or 95%. They have all of the standard features and are backed by a good warranty but their website is not much help. The units are only available through a limited contractor network.
This brand is from RHEEM MANUFACTURING which is a part of the PALOMA GROUP. This brand offers so many models that it can be very confusing to select the right one. The Classic Series furnaces are basic models with a 90% efficiency but the warranty is not very good when compared to other brands. The CLASSIC PLUS models have higher AFUEs and are backed by a better guarantee. The R96V units are premium units that are multi-position and have an efficiency of 96% while the R97V units offer modulating/communicating units with an efficiency of 97%. They feature stainless steel heat exchangers for durability but are only backed by an average warranty. The brand is only available through authorized contractor/dealers in the USA and Canada.
The ACHIEVER SERIES offers a basic high efficiency furnace but the warranty is not very good when compared to other brands. The ACHIEVER PLUS models have higher AFUE's and are backed by a better guarantee. The RGRM series offers premium units while the ULTRA SERIES models are the ultimate units with communicating and modulating abilities. They feature a two stage inducer and durable stainless steel heat exchangers and are backed by an average warranty including unit replacement if the heat exchanger fails. The units are only available through their dealer network in the USA.
The SMARTCOMFORT series of furnaces is made by INTERNATIONAL COMFORT PRODUCTS. They have all of the standard features as well as ECM blower motors for reliability and energy savings but their website is not much help.
