This brand is made in Canada and is also available in the USA. They manufacture units that are specifically designed for the homeowner to install without the need for an EPA certified technician.

The XL package includes the indoor air handler as well as the outdoor unit and everything to install them. The units have a factory installed low ambient control for continued cooling operations even when it is cold outside. The manufacturer's website is not much help and does not have a stated warranty policy.


Franklin AVXC20

This brand is made by GOODMAN MANUFACTURING which is a part of DAIKIN GLOBAL. The GSX14 is a basic central air conditioner featuring a louvered metal cabinet for coil protection but their guarantee is not very good when compared to other brands. The DSXC18 is a premium model that has the ability to communicate with the other parts of the home's hvac systems to provide maximum comfort and efficiency. It has a two speed condenser fan motor for added energy savings and quieter operation. The AVXC20 is an ultimate air conditioner with efficiencies of up to 24.5 SEER and backed by a very good warranty. 


This brand is from UNITARY PRODUCTS GROUP which is a part of JOHNSON CONTROLS and the units are available in the USA but only through authorized dealers. The TCJF series units are basic models with all aluminum micro-channel coils for a compact unit and corrosion resistance. They have a compressor blanket and swept wing fan for quiet operation but their guarantee is not very good. The AL8B units feature their whisperquiet system for noise control and can communicate with other parts of the home's heating/cooling systems for improved year around efficiency. They are backed by a very good warranty.

Fraser-Johnston AL8B

All of the units use louvered panel construction which provides superior protection for the condenser coil.
